Queer Books Newcastle

Monthly queer book picks, voted for by our members. We meet on the last Saturday of the month at noon in City Library.

At Queer Books Newcastle, we read a lot of speculative fiction, make a lot of blankets and go off topic to talk about birds, crabs and rust. We will say "oh my goodness, I have to read that!" and then add it to our endless tbr. Our excellent leaders do cool maths metrics about what books we finished and liked, and try to keep us on task. We are very lucky; we even get stickers!

Our Queer Book Club

The automatic AI tried to write something about how dedicated  and special we are. It sounded way smarter than me, but it didn't understand that we are just a bunch of queer little gremlins who really love books. There's loads of research goes into finding books to vote on each month, and some of us even try to read them all. It's still ok to come along even without reading the book.

The best bit is the friends we made along the way. No, really! I have found so many great queer books here, but they can't compare to the queers I've found.

Books of Queer Reading Past

There is an amazing spreadsheet that tells you all about what books were voted on and chosen in the past years! It has so much detail and I was in no way involved.

You can look through the image gallery for some of our recent reads, or...

AKA: the calander

Please note, the image of a horse is not indicative of any actual horses appearing in the library. Queer Books Newcastle makes no promise to provide a horse, please do not show up with riding hat and boots in anticipation of being able to ride the non-existant horse.

What was that about an alligator?

This is Gummy. He is trying to take over book club. He is filled with lavender and is very soothing.

Gummy is mine, and sometimes he comes along to book club. He would like you to read more books, or let him eat the books. Either works. Our spectacular member, Sam, drew fan art of him.

Does he justify his own entire section on our website instead of just a blog post?

Yes.
